When most people think of professional baby photography, they immediately think of newborn portraits. And don't get me wrong, I absolutely love newborn sessions (they are my FAVORITE)! They're the perfect way to celebrate your baby's arrival and preserve those tiny little details that change almost overnight.
But what many families don't realize is that the entire first year is filled with incredible milestones worth remembering.
Don't Forget the Months In Between
Babies change so much in just 12 short months. One day they're tiny, sleepy newborns, and before you know it they're smiling, sitting independently, crawling, standing, and taking those first wobbly steps. Each stage has its own unique personality, expressions, and achievements that deserve to be celebrated.
I always encourage parents to take a quick monthly photo of their baby at home in the same spot so they can watch their little one grow month by month. Those photos become such a special keepsake and are a wonderful way to see just how much your little one has grown.
For the biggest developmental milestones, I also offer professional milestone sessions designed specifically for babies around 3, 6, and 9 months.
These sessions are short, simple, and completely focused on capturing your baby's personality at that exact stage. Whether it's those adorable tummy-time smiles at three months, sitting confidently at six months, or the curious expressions and crawling adventures around nine months, each session freezes a moment that you'll never get back.
Each milestone session includes two outfit changes. Most families choose one themed setup that reflects their baby's personality or interests, along with a second outfit for timeless portraits on a simple backdrop that perfectly complements what they're wearing. This gives parents a beautiful variety of images they'll love displaying for years to come.
Celebrating the First Birthday
And of course, we can't forget one of my favorite celebrations: the first birthday!
A cake smash session is the perfect way to wrap up your baby's first year. From sweet portraits before the cake comes out to all the frosting-covered smiles (and sometimes tears!), and splashing in the tub to clean up, it's such a fun way to celebrate this huge milestone while creating memories your family will treasure forever.
The first year truly flies by. Before you know it, those tiny baby rolls disappear, gummy smiles are replaced with teeth, and your little one is running around the house. Investing in milestone portraits throughout the first year gives you a beautiful collection of memories that tells the story of your baby's incredible journey from newborn to toddler.
Documenting the Whole First Year
For families who want professional photos of some—or all—of these milestones, here's what I currently offer.
My milestone mini sessions are $250 and include a 20-minute session, two outfit changes, and an online gallery where you'll choose your favorite 10 images. Families who fall in love with all of the photos can upgrade to the full gallery for $125.
For families who know they want to document the entire first year, I also offer a special milestone collection. When you book the 3-month, 6-month, 9-month milestone sessions and a first birthday cake smash, you'll receive all of the best images from every session, instead of selecting just 10 from each gallery. It's my favorite way to help families tell the complete story of their baby's incredible first year. You'll save $575!
